NEW YORK (AP) — A posthumous work by prize-winning historian Robert D. Richardson will come out in 2022. It facilities on three main American thinkers he beforehand wrote books about: Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau and William James.
Princeton College Press introduced Tuesday that it’s going to publish “Three Roads Again: How Emerson, Thoreau, and William James Responded to the Best Losses of Their Lives,” which Richardson had accomplished earlier than his loss of life in June at age 86. He mirrored on how every man was formed by grief for beloved relations.
“Emerson, Thoreau, and William James all made lasting contributions to fashionable life, and their private triumphs over catastrophe and loss and defeat are additional contributions,” Richardson wrote within the preface. “Consider them as fellow human beings, dealing with losses and troubles very similar to ours.”
Richardson’s books included “Thoreau: A Lifetime of the Thoughts”; ”Emerson: The Thoughts on Fireplace,” winner of the Francis Parkman Prize in 1996; and “William James: Within the Maelstrom of American Modernism,” which received the Bancroft Prize in 2007.
