Information – FIVB publicizes updates to worldwide switch system
These changes were made to bring the FIVB Sports Regulations in line with principles previously approved by the FIVB Board of Administration and FIVB Executive Committee in 2019. These provisions will impact transfers during the 2021-2022 season.
In particular, the FIVB would like to highlight the following key changes to the FIVB transfer system:
1) Allowing clubs and players to obtain multi-year ITCs for a club based on the length of the player contract (up to five seasons) with players’ ITCs being suspended for the duration of his/her national team duties (see in particular Articles 6.2.5 and 6.5)
2) Defining that the National Team Period has priority from 16 May to 15 October, but to allow national leagues to run all year around in countries where its national team is not competing in an international competition and its players are not participating in international competitions. (see Article 6.1.1b)
3) Renaming and clearly defining the fees and the purpose of said fees applicable for international transfer as well as providing the relevant procedures related to all applicable fees (see Article 6.3 and Appendices C and D)
4) Extending the period of release for national team competitions to 14 days before the start of the National Team Period, and adding a period of 14 days after the National Team Period to allow those players playing in all club and national team competitions to recover and prepare for the next season in which they would play (see Article 6.5)
