INSTITUTE, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia State College plans to eradicate 16 positions, the varsity stated Thursday.
The announcement was made after an emergency assembly of the Board of Governors, The Charleston Gazette-Mail reported. The board met in closed session in the course of the assembly and returned to its public on-line assembly, voting to authorize eliminating the roles.
“The vote was giving the president the authority to eradicate explicit positions, which we do reluctantly,” stated West Virginia State professor Frank Vaughan, the college consultant board member.
“We gave her the authority right now,” he stated. “What she does with it, it’s as much as her. I do know she makes these choices very rigorously and reluctantly.”
The college stated in a press release the transfer “is one in all a number of measures the college might be taking at the side of a hiring freeze for non-essential positions, lowered spending, and different value saving measures.”
