Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday continued to blast county sheriffs who’ve stated they won’t implement a 10-person restrict on gatherings in houses.
“This isn’t a political scenario,” Cuomo stated on Lengthy Island, pointing to the federal authorities’s advice that individuals don’t spend Thanksgiving with folks outdoors of their fast houses.
Cuomo on Monday in an interview on WAMC radio in Albany stated he was contemplating spending Thanksgiving together with his mom and two daughters; his workplace shortly stated he would spend the vacation working as a substitute.
Cuomo has urged New Yorkers to not journey this Thanksgiving amid an upswing in coronavirus circumstances within the nation and in New York.
However Cuomo in latest days has criticized sheriffs for asserting they might not implement the 10-person restrict on gatherings. On Tuesday, Cuomo known as the pledges by sheriffs to be “a daunting precedent.” Sheriffs in most counties in New York are elected positions, with duties that vary from highway patrols to overseeing county jails.
“It is very harmful when legislation enforcement says ‘I am solely going to implement the legal guidelines I agree with.’ You are not a legislation enforcement officer; you are a politician,” Cuomo stated.
He added, “What if they do not agree with anti-discrimination legal guidelines? What if they do not agree with home violence legal guidelines?”
